What happened in Reno
...didn't stay there.

We elected Oscar Knight as Governor for the 2007-2008 year and Dan Connolly as Governor Elect for 2008-2009.

An historic amendment that rewrites how we govern the Cal-Nev-Ha District was also approved. The District Governance Committee had recommended that our district change the way it governs itself. The new plan was approved by the House of Delegates creating 18 regions within Cal-Nev-Ha and 18 trustees that will serve a staggered three-year term.

This will eliminate the 44 Lt. Governors serving as trustees. Each October the Lt. Governors were installed and they served a one-year term that limited the learning process of the position. They would just get comfortable with their position and it was time to be replaced.

With the projections for an increase of District membership to 100,00 members by 2015 that would mean the Board of Trustees would increase to more than 130 members, which would not be efficient.

The new Board will be a body of 18 Trustees and five officers. 23 members being a more workable group.

Lt. Governors will do all they have done in the past within their Divisions, but will not be voting members on the CNH Board of Trustees.

Division 4 will become part of Region 3

Division 4 will be joining with Divisions 30 and 41 and will become Region 3. A trustee will be voted on by the Region from those candidates that are nominated. The election date of March 15 has been chosen by the 3 Lt. Governors of Region 3 with Shirl Stewart, Lt. Governor of Division 4 as Lead LTG.

Any individual that has served as Lt. Governor (past) and has been a member of Kiwanis for at least 5 years is welcome to place themselves into the race. Each club will have to approve any candidate from their particular club and the nomination form needs to be forwarded to Shirl Stewart. 9200 Westminster Blvd, #4, Westminster, CA 92683.

The Election will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 in the Wade Center of CHOC hospital in Orange. 9am until 11am……..

Each club may send 2 delegates to cast votes. Past LTG’s will only be allowed to vote if they are chosen as a delegate by their home club.

Governor's Visit February 9, 2008

February 9th is the Governor’s Visit to Division 4. This reception/dinner will be held at the Westminster Community Services Building East/West Room. Located at 8200 Westminster Blvd., one block east of Beach Blvd. Invitations will be sent out to each club. We would expect to have a good turn out, as this is the last time a Governor will visit just Division 4. We will be part of the Region next year and will have a regional visit. For more information contact: Shirl Stewart 714-897-1200 or shirlstew@socal.rr.com.

I will be updating this website at least once a month and if anyone has anything they want to add please call me. Thanks to all for making this a good year for Division 4.

Kiwanis business cards

Somehow, Cal-Nev-Ha always manages to lead the way for Kiwanis, and even better, Division 4 is leading the way for Cal-Nev-Ha!  First Lady Lynn Seeden last year created the most-awesome Kiwanis business cards for us, and it wasn’t long until those cards made their way to the desk of Kiwanis International CEO Rob Parker, who has now ordered cards for himself from Lynn. These were a big hit at the Mid-Year and many Kiwanians placed orders.

The cards are two-sided. The front side is branding Kiwanis International, with your name, address, phone number and email address.  The back side is customized to your CLUB, with the club’s Web site, meeting place and time, and a list of the ways your club serves your community.

Here’s an example of what the cards look like:

To order, email LynnSeeden@earthlink.net for the price list. Lynn will make the process easy for you.

Newsletter headers

If your club would like a standardized newsletter header like the one at the top of this section, Lynn Seeden will gladly make a .jpg of this header customized with your club name and Web site.  The header fits the new Kiwanis International graphics standards.  Just email us at LynnSeeden@earthlink.net  to request one.
